Graphic Designer, Artist and Musician

Alex Vann

I come from a family of artists and graduated from Wolverhampton University with a first class honours degree in Design for Communication.

I set up my own graphic design company in the 1990s with help from the Prince’s Youth Business Trust and published a series of environmentally minded children’s books based about a character called ‘Joseph The Useful Cardboard Box’ which went on sale nationally in Waterstone’s bookstores.

Artist Information

I have always drawn and painted portraits and I take commissions for practically any subject. In 2015 I held a solo exhibition of my drawings and paintings entitled ‘Drawn To The Beat’ which led onto being commissioned to paint a portrait of the then Mayor and Mayoress of Wolverhampton. This then led to me being commissioned to decorate two of the wolf sculptures for Wolves in Wolves public art project 2018, Old Gold for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and Support Life for the University.

I now divide my time as a freelance graphic designer and art workshop leader. My company Real Arts Workshops works on location in community centres, schools, youth clubs and day care centres delivering high quality workshops with both abled and disabled people that break down barriers and build confidence.

I am also a singer/ song writer and regularly gig with my band AVB. I often use song writing as another creative outlet for people who attend my workshops. I am looking forward to working with Boundary Way on exciting and creative projects.
