I love everything about allotments - the hotch-potch of sheds and greenhouses; the imaginative re-purposing of materials to make fences, sheds, crop protection and water butts; the neat (or otherwise) rows of crops and flowers; the textures of rust and weathered wood; the patterns; and the colours. Not forgetting the allotment characters themselves.

Artist Information

I work mainly in inks and collage, and make my own inks from allotment and garden plants. (I’ve been exploring botanical inks as part of Boundary Way’s lovely INK Collective group.)

I love to make use of found items from the allotment to frame and display my work - rusty bin lids to peep into, and weathered wood with peeling paint and rusting nails. Re-using and ‘making do’, just as many allotmenteers do.

I’m particularly drawn to the ingenious greenhouse and shed structures at Boundary Way.

I have my own allotment in nearby Codsall.
