A Sense of Place: Art Exhibition & Creative Workshop Weekend
You recently met our artists and now it is time for you to come and see all the exciting things that they have been up to at Boundary Way. As part of the Wolverhampton Open Studios Weekend, an exhibition of our artist's work, entitled 'Sense of Place', will be taking place across next weekend, and we are so excited for you to see their work.
Artists hard at work[/caption] This free exhibition will take place across the Community Garden and is set to include a variety of work including paintings, drawings and work created from natural materials, all developed in response to our magical location. Boundary Way really is an inspiring place and we will be exhibiting work by artists Kanjana Nicholas, Clare Wassermann, Hannah Boyd, Sue Chand, Marie Sewell, Shelley McGregor and Richard Shilling, our resident land artist, all of whom have found inspiration in Boundary Way. We are delighted to be a part of the Wolverhampton Open Studios weekend, joining so much artistic talent across Wolverhampton who will be opening their doors. Our exhibition will be a celebration of Boundary Way Allotments & Community Gardens and is going to be a show of natural influence, colour and talent. !Sketches, land art & collage creation Sketches, land art & collage creation[/caption] It isn't only professional artists who have found inspiration here but aspiring ones too. The talented sixth form pupils from Penn Fields School have also been hard at work, both on the allotment and in their art lessons, creating enchanting artwork inspired by nature. Their work, including their natural lanterns, will also be on show for you to see in our 'Sense of Place' exhibition. It is going to look amazing.
Lanterns created by pupils from Penn Fields School As well as the exhibition, free creative workshops will also be taking place over the weekend. On the Saturday morning there will be a free Autumnal Nature Workshop with herbalist Maria Billington from 10:30 -12:30. In this workshop, Maria, who has been working to map the plants growing on our site, will be teaching you how to to make soap and investigate primitive toothcare using natural materials. A really exciting opportunity, certainly not one to miss! Alongside this, our resident land artist Richard Shilling will be running a Mandala Workshop from 2:00 - 4:00. Mandala created by the Boundary Way Staff with Richard Shilling & Julia Brooklyn On the Sunday, you can join us for an immersive experience of art and nature at Boundary Way with storyteller Ana Marie Lines. Ana will lead a tour of the community garden and 'Sense of Place' exhibition inviting participants to create their own response to what they see by gathering found objects and/or taking photographs. She will share traditional stories and uncover the unique qualities and atmosphere of the site. This workshop will run from 11:00 - 12:30.
